Sam Barlow RGN Dip H/E ,BA Hons, Teaching Cert, AdvCert Health Promotion

Sam is a qualified nurse with a background in cardiac nursing. She began her nursing career in the acute setting of Coronary Care working in Cheshire and then moved into a nurse practitioner cardiac role in Oxfordshire. This is where her interest in working with smokers really began to develop.

Sam moved into a Specialist Smoking Cessation role in 2000 which involved creating a new NHS service for the county of Oxfordshire. Sam's experience in this field has involved the facilitation of cessation support in groups, on a one to one basis and by telephone consultation. She moved from Oxfordshire to East Yorkshire in 2001 and continued working in an NHS role and also as a freelance training facilitator.

As part of her NHS work she created and managed a specialist cessation service for young people and continued to work with adults in various settings. Sam has worked as a training facilitator all over the UK teaching a communication skills based course about smoking cessation. Sam has also had articles published in nursing journals, presented widely at conferences and has produced a publication on sale throughout the UK about how to work with young smokers.

Sam is passionate about her work with smokers and enjoys immensely the specialist field of smoking cessation.
